men will often pull a neat rhetorical trick where they act like women and men are perfectly matched, equal parties on neutral territory who simply need to iron out their differences and come to terms. of course, this is not at all how they behave, and the way they treat women reveals the disparity of power that in fact plainly exists
don’t infantilise yourself. you are not a child who needs an adult to make your decisions for you. you are a splendid and magnificent autocrat and you are consulting your trusted advisors. you are exercising great wisdom by inviting an expert to give their opinion before making your ruling. often the path of wisdom is to say “good morning, I’m trying to [perform task] and I have a question about [aspect], can you tell me who I should speak to for advice?” before you do it. sometimes the path of wisdom is to hire a plumber. there are times when you cannot do things for yourself but that doesn’t mean you are not an adult. you don’t need a grown-up. you need a specialist.
“Punishment works!!!” We’re drowning in three to four generations of people so pants-shittingly terrified of ever being wrong that half of everyone has constructed a worldview wherein they never even consider the possibility that they could be wrong and the other half behaves like one wrong move will make anything or anyone explode violently into a million irreperable pieces. When you’re a kid you just take trees for granted. Then when you get to be an adult you realize that a fully mature tree cannot be created in an amount of time that fits in a convenient landscaping timeframe for love nor money nor all the powers of science. Then you realize that people are very very very cavalier about chopping them down
